About

My teaching journey

My yoga practice began at Inner Fire Yoga in Madison, Wisconsin, where I took classes regularly with a variety of incredible teachers. My practice deepened and I began to see yoga as an important part of the life I wanted to live. In September of 2019, I traveled to India, to Kashish Yoga School outside of Palolem, South Goa. I studied asana, meditation, philosophy, anatomy, and teaching methodology with Indian teachers Ashok Kumar, Siddharth Banjeree, and Shubham N Dhumal. I completed my 200-hour multi-style teaching certification, teaching an ashtanga-based vinyasa style class for my practical exam.

I began teaching in November 2019, with more regular classes starting in March 2020. I am currently teaching live online donation-based classes for anyone around the world who is interested.

I am excited for my teaching to improve and evolve over time. My goal is to help others through yoga, however that might be. I want to show people that yoga is for everyone, and anyone can benefit from this ancient practice – no matter your age, body type, or experience. I continue to practice regularly and see my own practice as my laboratory, where I experiment, explore, and discover, and hope to bring my discoveries to others through my teaching. I strive to blend the traditional yoga that I learned in India with the modern, Western practice. My classes have a focus on proper alignment and steady, deliberate breathing.

I hope to eventually return to India to complete my 500-hour teaching certification. Right now, I continue my education through self-study: books, podcasts, classes, films, and plenty of asana and meditation.
